On Monday by 11 am, five heli operators took their first fly to Kedarnath from Guptkashi, Mikhanda and Narayan Koti helipads. They took around five rounds and transferred 357 devotees to this holy shrine. But, due to bad weather conditions in the afternoon, services were stopped and 70 devotees had to stay back.
Initially, 14 heli operators had got the approval to fly from DGCA and UCADA, state agency for aviation. But later, DGCA declined the permission on the ground of their non-adherence to the norms and guidelines by NGT and were increasing the noise pollution. On sunday, after inspection DGCA’s gave its approval to five heli operators namely; Pawan Hans, Trans Bharat, Himalayan Heli, heritage aviation and global Vectra. And from tuesday onwards, 9 more helicopter operators are expected to join the clan. The names of those heli operators are Sumit Aviation, Bajaj, Aaryan, Sar, UT Air, Pinnacle, Aero Air Craft, Indo copter and premier.
The flights will take off between 6 am to 6 pm.
