The doors to Badrinath Dham generally remain closed during winters; and this year the portals of the shrines have been scheduled to be reopened for the devotees at 4 am on 16th of May, an exclusive information generated by the chairman of Badrinath Kedarnath temple committee.

However, the schedule for re-opening the temple’s doors was already being announced formally by the Rajpurohit of the erstwhile Tehri royal family at their palace in Narendra Nagar.

Lying majestically at the height of 3,133 mts, the Badrinath Yatra comprises of the sacred temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu who meditated at this place for 1000 continuous years for the welfare of mankind. One of the sacred shrines of Chardham Yatra in Uttarakhand, the Badrinath temple remains closed for six months due to snow stuck conditions and re-opened for the tourists during the months of April-May.

Although during the rest of the seasons the shrine is being taken to the nearby location of Joshimath at the Narsingh temple, where the idol of Lord Vishnu is being worshipped.
